Local Derby! The big local derby between Hawks and Tiger was played this morning in pretty heavy conditions… on Saturday evening I thought it may not happen at all. In the event, the contest was surprisingly one-sided with Hawks showing the huge advantage that confidence from a winning run can give. On the other hand, with Tigers still gelling as a team, they will experience good and bad weeks – and, unfortunately, this was one of the latter (although they did take the lead!). On paper, we designed these squads to be at a similar level – and I remain confident that Tigers can pick things up through the second half of the season. As for Hawks, they are now 5 points clear at the top and looking in a very strong position to compete for the championship. A real tribute to the management team for taking the same group of boys who were upper/mid-table last season and turning them into potential champions.
