Hawks game was a lot more competitive than their other games of late. Hemel started better winning the ball far too easily. However, Hawks slowly started to get to grips creating a lot of width which resulted in a great corner with an equally great header. 0-1! Then the ball broke free for an unchallenged Hemel player to strike the ball home completely unhindered. But a great individual run with a great goal – Hawks 1-2 up. Then a few great chances to win this comfortably came and went while Hawks held firm at the back… before Hemel equalised only for Hawks to grab a great team goal to go 2-3 up. Unfortunately, a mistake saw Hemel in at the back door to grab a 3-3 draw at the death. Dads notes. The goaly miskicked two back passes for 2 of the goals. Bense got a great assist. Played ok. Got took out on a run on goal. Guy got yellow card. Legs hurting. Had to stretch out. Growing pains.

The early kick off today at Berkhamsted seemed to suit Hawks – right from the word go they had all the play, some good movement and passing of the ball, and always looking to pass the ball to a teammate . So to find themselves 3-0 down after 20min was bewildering! Credit due though to the Hawks players – never gave up and through grit and determination got themselves back to 3-3 at half time. The pattern of the second half was similar: Hawks won the midfield battle and were a constant threat on the Berko goal. Berkhamsted did manage a few threats of their own but some great defending and keeping kept them out. Hawks duly finally made their superiority count with another 2 goals to win 3-5. DAD: I was in Venice but no goals for Bense this week. 1 assist though!

With only 12 players it was likely to be a tiring game for Hawks against Everett Yellow. But the boys stepped up: 1 up within 5 mins… Then, though, a bad 10mins for Hawks as lack of tracking back resulted in Everett getting two weak goals to put them 1-2 up. But some tactical adjustments seemed to work wonders for Hawks with a well worked equaliser to go in 2-2 at the break. All the boys had a great second half – in particular helping out and covering each other which was a real turning point – Hawks ended scoring anther 3 goals to win 5-2: all in all a thoroughly well-deserved win ! DADS NOTES- Benson scored 3 and 1 assist!
