Benson Footy

Hawks fixture at Chorleywood was the return of last October’s match that ended in controversy when it transpired that the opposition, having won 5:0, did not have a registration card for one of their players and ended up forfeiting the game. On a clear and cool morning on a pitch with a distinct slope, Hawks started the match going uphill. What quickly became apparent was Hawks’ confidence on the ball. Rather than the defence lump the ball forward out of danger, they elected to play out from the back, retaining possession wherever possible. Add to this a real passion for pressing the opposition and giving them no time on the ball and Hawks looked an irresistible force. 2:0 at half time was a fair reflection of the first half, in which Chorleywood managed just one significant effort on goal. With the slope to our advantage in the second half Hawks soon pulled away to 3:0, however it wasn’t until the final 10 minutes, with the opposition flagging, that the goals flowed more rapidly. Highlights included some beautiful passing moves down the left and crisp finishing. A thoroughly impressive match in which defence, midfield and attack all played with a great mix of skill and endeavour – Hawks most convincing performance so far his season

Note. Benson scored 2. Great game. Well played son !
