Jaguars were away at Hemel Town Youth White, a team who are known for being both fast and physical, and are above Jaguars in the league table. The first half was fairly evenly matched with Jaguars enjoying some long periods of possession and dominance. Hemel’s attacking threat was from their super-fast striker who twice found himself one-on-one with the keeper and was twice beaten by the excellent Jaguars shot-stopper. Ten minutes into the second half, Jaguars found the breakthrough following some flowing passing that involved all three midfielders before unleashing the Jaguars striker who gained a yard on the Hemel defender and drilled the ball home from 10 metres. 5 minutes later, Hemel found a way through the resolute Jaguars defence to equalise. With 10 minutes remaining, Jaguars won a free-kick on the edge of the area. The free-kick beat the wall but was cleared off the line, only to see a Jaguars midfielder quickest to respond and drive the ball home from close range. And so the game ended as a 2-1 away victory to Jaguars. The whole team played superbly, with complete commitment, strong focus, and an excellent team spirit. Well done!

Football Report

Oh how Jaguars wished the first half could be wiped from this morning’s game……Playing an unbeaten team Jags found themselves 4-0 down at half time, some down to bad luck and some due to suspect defending. But the “game of two halves” cliche was written especially for this morning. Jaguars played probably their best football of the season as they completely took control in the second half scoring within the first few seconds and then constantly peppering the Hemel goal. The role of goalkeeper spectator so often enjoyed by opposition keepers became the property of Jaguars as wave after wave of attacks kept bearing down on the Hemel goal. Hemel’s one second half chance resulted in a deflected goal but Jaguars managed another goal and finished the game with a flourish.

*Dads notes:* Benson played outstanding – should have scored – but again played box to box… well done son!! very proud dad 🙂
