Kings Langley Ospreys 5 v 2 JAGUARS

Jags lost 5-2 to Kings Langley in a rearranged away league game. After trailing 3-0 at half time against a strong wind we put up a very spirited second half display and scored two good goals. We received much praise from Kings Langley’s manager for the progress we had made over the season, which considering they have gone 13 games unbeaten was very satisfying.

Football Report

Hawks and Whitecaps played a keenly contested friendly this morning. The first 20 minutes were not of the highest quality – the game disrupted by the strong cross wind. However Hawks were acquitting themselves well – the defenders kept the Whites attack at bay while they also looked dangerous on the break. Indeed, that was their route to the opening goal – a fine counter-attack finished in style. At this stage, the lead was well-deserved.

Whitecaps were stung by this and responded quickly with the equaliser. As the game wore on, though, Whites took more of a grip and wore down the Hawks defenders – with a number of good finishes leading to a slightly flattering scoreline. Therefore it was only justice when Hawks grabbed a 2nd late on with a superb long range free-kick into the top corner.

Ultimately, a very entertaining game and with some very good individual performances on both sides.

JAGUARS 1 v 3 HAWKS (League)

The big local derby between Jags and Hawks in the Yellow Division was a closely fought affair in the first half – both sides attacked and defended well. Jags were the first to put the ball in the net only for it to be ruled out for offside. Then Hawks scored a superb goal – which counted – a fine finish following a beautiful flick on. The second half started with Hawks getting on top as Jaguars, who had worked exceptionally hard in the first period, started to tire. However, just as Jaguars started to look more threatening going forward again, Hawks moved decisively ahead with a fine finish from inside the box. Another cool strike left Hawks three up before Jags got the goal they deserved late on, capitalising on a defensive lapse from an otherwise excellent Hawks back line. The game was played (and watched!) in great spirit – many congratulations to all. It was fantastic to watch the progression displayed by both teams over the course of the season. * *
