Back over in the West Herts Youth League, the curtain has finally fallen on a decent season with Hawks finishing 4th. First half in today’s game against Chorleywood was competitive with both teams creating good goal scoring opportunities – so for Hawks to find themselves 2-0 up was a bonus. 2nd half kicked off with Hawks definitely on top, managing to score another 2 goals with Chorleywood netting a penalty to end the game 4-1 …. DAD NOTES: Benson played well. Great shot which Joe tap’d in on line – dubious !!!! lol

With the perfect weather for a good game of football this was it as Hawks took on title chasing St Albans. The game kicked off with Hawks dominating play in the first 15-20 mins so to find themselves 0-1 down by half time was a bit unfair to say the least. The 2nd half kicked off with St Albans showing a bit more urgency about their play knowing a win would take them to the summit. But Hawks were their equal showing great determination , and this payed off with a fantastic corner and a great goal. 1-1. Both teams showed resilience and played some excellent football. The minutes ticked by and a draw looked likely but Hawks won it with a rifled shot into the net for a famous victory with the last kick!

Hawks game was a lot more competitive than their other games of late. Hemel started better winning the ball far too easily. However, Hawks slowly started to get to grips creating a lot of width which resulted in a great corner with an equally great header. 0-1! Then the ball broke free for an unchallenged Hemel player to strike the ball home completely unhindered. But a great individual run with a great goal – Hawks 1-2 up. Then a few great chances to win this comfortably came and went while Hawks held firm at the back… before Hemel equalised only for Hawks to grab a great team goal to go 2-3 up. Unfortunately, a mistake saw Hemel in at the back door to grab a 3-3 draw at the death. Dads notes. The goaly miskicked two back passes for 2 of the goals. Bense got a great assist. Played ok. Got took out on a run on goal. Guy got yellow card. Legs hurting. Had to stretch out. Growing pains.
