My apologies for the delay in publishing this but have been away. So, without further ado:
A 10-a-side cup match against a team from the higher division was played out on a sunny if windy pitch. Both sides were short of a full complement as school holidays took their toll.
Whilst the scoreline implies a very one sided affair, in effect Hawks were competitive and whilst shots on goal were hard to come by Hawks were, at times, able to apply a fair degree of pressure. The hard-working Hawks defence battled well and frequently snuffed out Sun Postal attacks, however the visitors were able to make their possession pay and some slick passing moves and decisive finishing kept the scoreline ticking up. Hawks deserved a goal and to their credit they kept trying, but alas none was forthcoming. It was nevertheless a positive match played in a good spirit. Just one more cup game to go…..
